Working independently at a tech-lead level, you keep the Layout code healthy.\n\nResponsibilities\n\n- Own day-to-day Layout maintenance: fix bugs and regressions, keep tests green, handle incoming issues.\n\n- Diagnose and fix Layout problems across platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android).\n\n- Carry code review and routine upkeep so the FTE engineers can focus on other mission critical projects. .\n\n- Join planning and standards / web-compat meetings as needed.\n\nDefinition of done\n\nA healthy Layout area, backlog and regressions kept down, with the team’s senior engineers freed to focus on critical Performance and Security issues.\n\nRequired qualifications\n\n- Strong C++ (JavaScript and/or Rust a plus).\n\n- Solid CSS and page-layout knowledge.\n\n- Strong debugging and optimization in a multithreaded codebase.\n\n- Able to work independently and lead technically in a large, mature codebase.\n\nPreferred\n\n- Prior experience in web browser architecture and development.\n\n- Prior Web standards experience.\n\n- Mobile web development, profiling and debugging skills a plus.\n\n- Proven experience in utilization of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) in the investigation, development, debugging, and/or testing of code is a plus.\n\nHiring Ranges:\n\nCanada Tier 1 Locations\n$185,045—$217,700 CAD\n\nCanada Tier 2 Locations\n$131,400—$154,600 CAD","url":"https://job-boards.greenhouse.io/mozilla/jobs/8201924"}
