As the industry moves toward SaaS, data protection (backup and recovery) for these applications is critical. You’ll tackle problems at a massive scale, such as efficiently protecting data for millions of users’ emails and documents, helping drive the next generation of SaaS protection and Rubrik’s next growth engine.\n\nKey responsibilities (time allocation)\n\n- Build large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed software systems that can scale indefinitely (35% of time)\n\n-\n\n- Own, design, and develop cutting-edge solutions for Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) for on‑prem and major cloud platforms;\n\n- Implement data management jobs for backup and recovery of virtual machines in virtualized enterprise infrastructure (Scala/Java);\n\n- Design and implement admin-facing UIs and intuitive APIs that integrate with third-party and customer applications\n\n- Perform code reviews focused on interface design, code quality, and testing strategies\n\n- Solve challenging scalability and stability problems impacting delivery of high‑scale products in accordance with quality, velocity, and coding standards (25% of time)\n\n- Analyze defects to assess and prioritize fixes; work with customers and product to understand requirements and requested customizations before implementation\n\n- Respond to critical problems in our Saas product offerings (20% of time)\n\n- resolve issues in build and test infrastructure; create solutions with robust monitoring, metrics, and automation\n\n- Partner closely with Rubrik product teams to understand customer requirements and ensure features are delivered effectively (20% of time)\n\nWhat you’ll do (summary)\n\n-\nDesign, build, and maintain Rubrik’s cloud data protection services for SaaS applications\n\n-\nTackle complex distributed systems and scaling problems\n\n-\nCollaborate with Product Management, UI, Documentation, and Support teams\n\n-\nLead projects and mentor junior engineers\n\nMinimum qualifications\n\n-\n3+ years building large-scale distributed systems\n\n-\nDeep understanding of distributed & cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP)\n\n-\nBS in Computer Science or equivalent\n\n-\nStrong code review and testing practices\n\n-\nProven experience in data structures, software design, and systems analysis\n\nPreferred qualifications\n\n-\nProficiency in one or more: Go, Scala, Python\n\n-\nExperience with Bazel, Git, and GitHub\n\n-\nExperience establishing/maintaining automated build systems\n\nThe minimum and maximum base salaries for this role are posted below; additionally, the role is eligible for bonus potential, equity and benefits.
